I am an ex-games industry 3d/2d artist with 5 year of experience making graphics for console games. That said I left the games industry back in 2004. I was never a versatile artist so getting back into the games industry now was proving very difficult for me, i was really going to have to re-vamp my folio and learn new skills…or be completely lazy and  just do what I am good at! I choose the the easy path but I hope that working with Justin on these independent game projects will inspire me to upgrade my skills.

As an artist who wants to make games, I was alway frustrated with the fact you needed programmer to make it all happen, but a lot has happened in the last 10 year. Many different game authoring software systems have come onto the market  over the past decade and yet I still had problems finding the right one for me. Also, I am a Mac User so my choices were more limited….until now. I took the plunge with Unity and bought Unity Indie and iPhone basic thinking I had bought a drag and drop game creator, but not so. Though Unity has been made very accessible to the artist, it still a bit complex for me. I give up way to easily when I am working alone and the going gets tough and thats not a a desirable trait when you want to make games.

Luckily for me, i have a good friend who knows my foibles well, has coding skill in spades and was interested in making games with me! I think working together is going to keep me on track and help me move out of comfort zone and get dirty with Unity. I might even learn to write a line of code!
